Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a real FAQ?

Yes and no. I've been asked some of these questions several times, whereas others are ones I'm assuming people will eventually ask me.

Who are you?

My name is Tom Wright, and I made this website. If you want to know more about me and Questionable Films, check the About Me section.

What's your e-mail?

That would be tom@questionablefilms.com

Is Questionable Films a real production company?

No, it's not - it's basically just a name I started putting at the start of my movies and animations since the Matrix spoof was filmed in Summer 2002. Because of this, Questionable Films obviously doesn't have a production team, however there are a number of people who appear regularly in my movies - watch Kung Spoon 2 to get a good idea who these people are.

I'm sure I've seen another company called Questionable Films...

Well that's not really a question, but you're right - you can see their website here. Given that I made my first proper film in 2002 before they had formed their company, and given it's very unlikely they've seen any of my stuff, the fact we both have the exact same name is almost definitely a coincidence.

I want to know more about movie x/cartoon y...

Check the Articles section.

I've already checked the Articles section, it's not there!

If you want me to write an article about anything QF-related, just e-mail me and ask!

I love the Steve series, can I have it as a video file for my iPod?

Yes, I have honestly had this asked a bunch of times. Right now I don't really have much time to convert all my animations into videos, but if you send me an e-mail asking for a specific animation to be converted I'll see what I can do.

Do you have a profile on any blog or art sites?

Yes, several - deviantART, facebook, livejournal, and Newgrounds. However, my deviantART site never gets updated and all the stuff from it is on here, and I now never update my livejournal. This leaves facebook and Newgrounds - my username on both is Tom Wright, and for facebook I'm in both the London and Southampton uni networks.

Isn't this site missing quite a lot of your videos and animations?

The somewhat confusing answer to this is yes, but also no. Basically, there's plenty of stuff I've made over the years which isn't on this site, but none of it is Questionable Films stuff. Thus, while I know a lot of you wanted to see the Vanstabben series and the now-infamous 'Simply the Best' animation, these don't really have a place on this site. However, I may well end up adding a 'Random Crap' section on the site, which is where all this stuff would go. Fingers crossed!

Why can't I find the Matrix spoofs?

Because I moved them off the Movies page and into the Matrix article.

Why did you move the Matrix spoofs?

In a nutshell, because I really don't like them anymore and I don't want casual visitors seeing them easily. Read here for more specific information.

Are there any people you'd like to thank?

Yes - Matt Wilson for creating Bonus Stage, the cartoon series that got me into series-based animation. Egoraptor for generally being awesome and also giving me a new style for my Incredible Ahmed series. Tom Fulp and everyone at Newgrounds for their continued support of my Steve series. Kagome for being really great about appearing in Steve 2, despite the fact it's a very small animation. Everyone from Westbrook for constantly agreeing to be in my movies despite the fact I always end up shouting at them. Everyone from home for always being hugely supportive about my stuff, even though I tend to go on about it all the time. And finally, I'd like to thank anyone who's watched a Questionable Films production - it doesn't matter if you've gone and told all your friends about it, or even if you watched something and didn't like it, without people watching my stuff there'd be no reason for me to keep making it. Cheers everyone!

Are there any films, cartoons, comics or websites that have heavily influenced your work?

Yes - The Matrix, Ong-Bak, Iron Monkey, Cowboy Bebop, Bonus Stage, Penny Arcade, and all the stuff over at Disaster Labs (particularly Arfenhouse and Stockbroker Z).

Finally, can you list some of the music artists you've used in your stuff?

Of course - Immediate Music, Ben Folds, Reel Big Fish, The Automatic, Beyond Good and Evil OST, Nervous Testpilot, and Weezer. And before you ask, Steve's theme is the Big Match theme from the 70s, by Graham Walker.
